In December, we shared the numerous art fairs held in Miami. Hundreds of galleries representing artists from around the world have meticulously curated exhibitions to be seen by renowned art collectors, museums, curators, and critics. The galleries spend enormous amounts of money to expose contemporary and historic artists' artwork to this crowd. The risk/reward for galleries to get these art world elites to pay attention to their exhibit can make an artist's career or push a gallery, that foots the bill, into economic stress. Sometimes breaking even is all a gallery can hope for - it's an advertisement for the galley, the program they present with the stable of artists represented.
